The new streetfighter motorcycle was due to be officially unveiled in the summer as a replacement for the Yamaha FZ6 Fazer, had until now only been partially revealed with two teaser shots released by Yamaha of just the nose.
Yamaha’s plan was to spend another month or so releasing more images but MCN was able to get hold of images before that. As a response Yamaha has released this single official image of the naked FZ8.
The new FZ8 is based very closely on the FZ1, its 1000cc big brother. Like that bike both half-faired (Fazer) and naked (FZ8) versions will be available. The motor engine is believed to be a sleeved-down version of the FZ1 engine and to produce around 120bhp compared to the FZ1’s 150.
Sadly, that is all there is to it. I suppose they want to prolong the anticipation as much as they can.
It is believed that the 2010 FZ8 will replace Yamaha’s current FZ6 series.
The teaser pic shows the FZ8’s smallish front fairing in white, headlight and indicators and nothing more.
The motorcycle will make its appearance in Europe for sure – and there are chances that it would appear in the States too. Naked bikes are not generally a bit hit in the US where superbikes and cruisers are preferred.
The 800 cc naked middle-weight motorcycle is eagerly awaited by Yamaha fans.
The 2010 Yamaha FZ8 was expected to make its first official appearance at the on-going NEC show, but that has not happened yet. So for now all we have is this teaser photo!
When the FZ8 is released, we promise full specifications, a photo gallery and all the pricing information you all are eagerly waiting for.
